SALT LAKE CITY – Sr. Catherine Kamphaus, CSC, has announced that she will retire on July 31 after more than 50 years in education, including 17 years as superintendent of Utah Catholic Schools.
“After all these years, it just felt good,” she said of her decision. “I feel like there’s a time, and a season for it, and it just feels right.”

Over 48 years, Veronica Brand has taught hundreds of elementary and middle-school students. She has presented lessons on social studies, language arts, science, math and music, using songs to help students memorize the Preamble to the Constitution and the Gettysburg Address. But as she prepares to retire at the end of this school year, she hopes her former students from St. Ann’s (now Kearns-St. Ann’s) and St. Francis Xavier Catholic schools recall the two most important lessons she tried to share with each of her “children.”
Recall petitioners can still withdraw signatures
Of the more than 1.6 million signatures collected in a petition to initiate the recall of Gov. Gavin Newsom, 3,300 were received and verified in Imperial County.
The Imperial County Registrar of Voters Office announced Tuesday that local petition signers have until June 8 to change their minds.
The elections department explained that pursuant to Elections Code section 11108(b), any voter who has signed the recall petition may withdraw their signature, if they so choose, by providing a written request.
Although there is no specific format required, a written request for signature withdrawal must include:

MILLCREEK – The artwork of Bella Franco, 15, a Judge Memorial Catholic High School freshman, will soon be seen by thousands of people across the Salt Lake Valley.
Bella was named as one of the winners in a new UTA contest My BeUTAHful Community Student Art Competition that invited students from Kindergarten to 12th grade to submit entries with the theme “Meet Your Neighbor.”
“Through this competition we want to give young people in Utah the opportunity to self-express through public art, be a visible part of the public transportation system, bring art to riders and the communities that we serve, and to celebrate and represent Utah communities in our service,” UTA said on its website.
