MOORESTOWN, NJ After a one-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, Moorestown will once again host an in-person Memorial Day Service, according to Mayor Nicole Gillespie.
The service takes place at 10 a.m. May 31 at Memorial Field, 254 South Church Street. The theme will be the War on Terror, and the keynote speaker will be Lt. Col. Alan Van Saun.
Van Saun has 15 years of experience as an active duty Army officer, serving in both the Infantry and Special Forces, according to his online profile. He has numerous deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and West Africa, advising partner nation military leaders on operations, planning, and leadership.
GRANTS PASS, Ore. – A major Southern Oregon event has been canceled for the second year in a row due to COVID-19.
Last year, the Boatnik festival was canceled due to complications during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Now, this year’s Boatnik saw a similar fate.
Organizers of the festival issued the following statement on May 7, 2021:
“First and foremost, we want to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for their continued partnership, our community, and our supporters for your belief in the Active Club.
“We have been hopeful all year long that Boatnik 2021 would happen. Today, we must inform you that it will not happen. There was not a lack of effort or try from our membership to give this community an event that provides a beacon of normalcy. However, as large and as complex as our event is, we require permits to run components of Boatnik. We were not granted those permits this year, meaning no carnival, vendors, or parade due to the state’s COVID-19 outd

Volunteers are needed, age 18 and older, will clean both sides of Route 206 between New Amwell and Homestead Road.
Volunteers are asked to wear masks and socially distance from other volunteers.

The 2021 season of the Brook Arts Center in Bound Brook continues on May 8 with the return of “Winslow, An Evening of the Eagles.”
May 9 will be an afternoon of music to celebrate mothers with American’s Tenor Dominic Mantuano.
On May 22, Amani will perform jazz, blues, ballads and bop.
The Closet Carpenters will perform the songs of the duo Richard and Karen Carpenter on May 30 at 7 p.m.
Decorated Vietnam War veteran and Steelers legend Rocky Bleier to speak at Carlisle Memorial Day ceremony
Despite being wounded overseas, Bleier returned to help the Steelers win four Super Bowls before retiring in 1980.

CARLISLE, Pa. Decorated Vietnam War veteran and legendary Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rocky Bleier will be the guest speaker at Carlisle’s community Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 31, the Carlisle Joint Veterans Council announced Monday.
Council president Kirk Wilson said the ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. at The Soldiers Walk at the U. S. Army Heritage and Education Center, 950 Soldiers Drive, Carlisle.

CROMWELL - Residents hope to underscore a return to normalcy when the town stages its Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade on Sunday, May 30.
Cromwell is one of few communities clings to commemorating Memorial Day on the day itself and not the holiday that was created by Congress.
Because it is a Sunday, however, the parade will be held in the late morning rather than usual 6 p.m.
