Moorestown Returns To Live Memorial Day Ceremony Amid Pandemic

(Shutterstock) MOORESTOWN, NJ After a one-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, Moorestown will once again host an in-person Memorial Day Service, according to Mayor Nicole Gillespie. The service takes place at 10 a.m. May 31 at Memorial Field, 254 South Church Street. The theme will be the War on Terror, and the keynote speaker will be Lt. Col. Alan Van Saun. Van Saun has 15 years of experience as an active duty Army officer, serving in both the Infantry and Special Forces, according to his online profile. He has numerous deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and West Africa, advising partner nation military leaders on operations, planning, and leadership.

Organizers of the festival issued the following statement on May 7, 2021: “First and foremost, we want to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for their continued partnership, our community, and our supporters for your belief in the Active Club. “We have been hopeful all year long that Boatnik 2021 would happen.  Today, we must inform you that it will not happen. There was not a lack of effort or try from our membership to give this community an event that provides a beacon of normalcy.  However, as large and as complex as our event is, we require permits to run components of Boatnik.
