A Tremendous Human Being : One Of Two Houston Tesla Wreck Victims Identified As Local Doctor

His 69 year old friend has yet to be identified, according to ABC 13.  Varner was a doctor at the local Memorial Hermann Health System. The health system released a statement on his death overnight heading into Wednesday, stating:  Dr. Varner was a tremendous human being who personally impacted many throughout our Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center family over the years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family, and also to those who had the privilege of working and serving alongside him in various capacities. He will be dearly missed by so many.

The Texas Restaurant Association is stepping up to help keep hospitality workers safe amidst the pandemic. The initiative aims to vaccinate tens of thousands of workers in the industry in San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and Dallas, primarily those who work at restaurants, bars, hotels, and within catering. “In addition to the resolute precautions taken by restaurants, a vaccine against COVID-19 will provide one more level of protection for our employees,” said Dr. Emily Williams Knight, TRA’s CEO and president.

Memorial Hermann providing COVID-19 vaccines in Sugar Land

Memorial Hermann Health System is administering doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in a a drive-through event at Smart Financial Centre, 18111 Lexington Blvd. in Sugar Land. Through a partnership with the Houston Rockets and Landry’s, the vaccination event originally scheduled for Thursday and Friday has been expanded to include Monday, April 19 and Tuesday, April. Both registered and walk-up appointments will be honored, according to a news release from Memorial Hermann, for those age 16 and older while vaccines last. The drive-thru clinic is open from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday, Monday and Tuesday, and Memorial Hermann said a parent or legal representative must accompany minors who are 16 or 17 years old to their appointment.

Mitzner was previously the executive vice president at Hoag Health a California-based hospital system and CEO of the Hoag Orthopedic Institute. Before that, she was CFO of St. Joseph Hoag Health and began her career as a healthcare advisor with accounting firm KPMG.
