Political advisors propose to set Teachers’ Day on ancient educator Confucius’ birthday

More than 50 Chinese political advisors have jointly proposed to set Teachers Day on ancient educator and philosopher Confucius birthday to mark the day s significance by endowing it with cultural and historical meaning.
The joint proposal was initiated at the ongoing two sessions by Wang Xuedian, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China s top political advisory body. Wang is also the dean of the Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies in Shandong University.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China omitted mention of a property tax in its 2021 legislative plan on Monday for a second consecutive year as the government focuses on boosting consumption to cement an economic rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic amid lingering uncertainty.

The topic was also omitted from the government’s work reports in 2020 and 2021 by Premier Li Keqiang at the annual meeting of parliament, which set out the full-year agenda, though property tax legislation is still planned for the future.
