AUSTIN, Texas – The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination across Texas will prioritize older residents and people who are at the greatest risk of severe disease and death from the virus, state health officials announced on Monday.

HOUSTON Texas pharmacies are getting ready to give to people living and working in nursing homes and long-term care facilities the COVID-19 vaccine.
It’s part of a vaccination effort that started in a few long-term care facilities last week and is expanding to 12 states this week.
“Things have gone well, and the expectation is that we will be across the country as early as next week,” said Dr. Kevin Ban, Chief Medical Officer for Walgreens.

The rollout of two effective coronavirus vaccines has provided the first boosts of public optimism that the end of the pandemic is actually in sight. As pharmaceutical companies work hand-in-hand with the government and agencies like the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to get Americans vaccinated, it s also becoming clearer when you might be able to get vaccinated yourself. Burnet County receiving doses after second COVID-19 vaccine approved The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted an emergency use authorization for a second COVID-19 vaccine, which means more doses are headed to Texas this week, including about 1,100 to Burnet County, for frontline healthcare providers and long-term care facility residents and staff.
Another wave of COVID-19 vaccines is headed to Texas, this time including Burnet County, after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Dec. 18 authorized Moderna’s vaccine for emergency use. The approval comes about a week after the FDA did the same for the Pfizer vaccine.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is sending 620,400 doses of both vaccines to the state in a second week of distribution: 460,500 doses of the Moderna vaccine and 159,900 of the Pfizer version.
