  The Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Haruna Iddrisu says he was still fully in charge of the minority caucus. He said despite the suggestions that the Minority in Parliament was in a crisis, he was still fulling in charge. This follows the resignation of the Member of Parliament (MP) from North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa from the Appointments Committee of Parliament and the breaking of ranks by the Bolgatanga Central MP, Isaac Adongo who disagrees with the approval of Mr Ken Ofori-Atta as Minister of Finance by the minority caucus. At a press conference in Parliament on Wednesday, Mr Iddrisu said is caucus will sail through the storm.

NDC leadership, Minority caucus confer on way forward

Salia 30.5k Shares 705 The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Wednesday held a meeting with the Council of Elders of the party and the entire Parliamentary Caucus to reconcile growing differences following the disquiet and misgivings that characterised the approval of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo s ministerial nominees by Parliament. The meeting, which was held in Parliament, was also to address the concerns of the teeming members and supporters of the party. The last few weeks have witnessed growing differences among some party members at the national level and within the membership, especially with the vetting of ministerial nominees.

+ The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its party supporters to form a united opposition front that is capable of demanding accountability from the Akufo-Addo-led government. A statement issued by the party’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, on 31 March 2021, noted that the call for party unity had become necessary following a meeting the leadership of the NDC held with its Council of Elders and parliamentary caucus “in the aftermath of the disquiet and misgivings that characterised the approval of the ministerial nominees of President Akufo-Addo”. According to the statement, “the meeting was conducted in a healthy atmosphere in which the concerns of the teeming members and supporters were adequately ventilated and addressed”.
