Sacramento City School Workers And District Find Agreement And Avoid Strike

By Jensen Rader, iHeartMedia Apr 20, 2021 Days before a set strike, the Sacramento City School District and the union representing the school workers have reached a tentative agreement on how to continue with reopening procedures. A marathon mediation session between Sacramento City Unified School District and classified workers represented by SEIU 1021 produced a tentative agreement that both sides believe will allow SCUSD to safely welcome all students back to in-person learning. As a result, Unfair Labor Practice strike that had been scheduled for later this week is now canceled. The agreement to bring Sacramento students back to school is expected to be signed Tuesday. The district says the agreement includes physical distancing, face coverings, hand hygiene, and screenings. Local schools started phasing students back to in-person instruction on April 8th, about a year since they were last in the classroom.

Amazon illegally interfered in Alabama s union vote alleges RWDSU - Workers Revolutionary Party

Workers Revolutionary Party THE UNITED Statesâ Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) is to file charges against Amazon on the grounds that they illegally interfered in a recent vote to recognise the union, and to hold the giant company accountable for their actions. The RWDSU will file Objections and Unfair Labour Practice charges implicating Amazon. This follows reports that Amazon employees at the companyâs giant warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama, have voted against unionising the facilityâs roughly 5,800-person workforce. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) announced that out of 3,041 potentially valid votes, 1,798 workers at the BHM1 fulfillment centre had voted against joining a union, while 738 workers voted in favour. (The union had previously reported collecting a total of 3,215 ballots.)
