Fines handed out following investigations by the PPP OUT-OF-DATE food, forklifts and unsafe freezers these things have all led to hefty fines for local retailers and residents over the years. The penalties have come following investigations from the Public Protection Partnership, a Trading Standards, Environmental Health and Licensing services organisation shared across Bracknell Forest, West Berkshire and Wokingham. Here are a few examples of the PPP’s prosecutions.
Huge fine for Tesco Warfield Back in December last year, Tesco’s Bracknell North superstore was served a whopping £536,000 fine following an incident in July 2017. I was shopping online late at night. There was a deal on one website that said if you spend £100, you could get £25 off.
I added items to my basket and paid for my shopping via Paypal. I didn t realise, as I had to log in through Paypal, that it took the time to two minutes past midnight.
The site charged me the full amount and when I questioned it, customer service told me it was because the deal ended at midnight.
Some companies have been found to leave adverts up for deals no longer taking place
However, the deal was advertised on the site well past midnight and even some time for the next day.
