BELLEVILLE An Illinois-based debt collection company is facing a class action, alleging it deceptively tried to collect time-barred debts.
Mackenzie Hise, formerly known as Mackenzie Brown, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint Feb. 16 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Enhanced Recovery Company LLC, alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, Hise received a dunning letter from Enhanced Recovery on Jan. 13 alleging she had a $565.70 debt owed to Sprint. Hise alleges the letter stated it was from a debt collector and that she had not had an account with Sprint since moving to Illinois or made a payment to Sprint in the last nine years.
