Fairbanks school district lifts mask mandate for adults and students 16 and older Staff Reporter © Provided by Fairbanks KTVF (Courtesy FNSBSD) FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - According to a press release issued on Thursday, the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is lifting its mask mandate for adults and students 16 years or older, in line with the CDC guidelines that were released earlier in the day on Thursday. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention eased mask-wearing guidance for fully vaccinated people on Thursday, allowing them to stop wearing masks outdoors in crowds and in most indoor settings. The district will not be requesting or requiring information from staff, parents, students or community members regarding vaccination status. The policy change goes into effect immediately; adults and high school students age 16 and above will no longer be required to wear masks or social distance in schools or at district events and activities.
