Newton, MA Both Newton South and North high schools have been named among the best high schools in the United States, according to a new ranking by U.S. News and World Report.
This year s list ranks some 17,800 of the more than 21,000 public high schools throughout the country.
Among those schools, Newton South was ranked 804 nationally, or 34th in the state.

The Boston Red Sox game in Minneapolis was postponed shortly before the first pitch Monday afternoon.
The Minnesota Twins, who the Sox were expected to begin their series against, said the postponement was out of respect for the developing situation in the Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Center following the fatal police shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright. Out of respect for the tragic events that occurred yesterday in Brooklyn Center, and following the additional details in this evolving situation, the Minnesota Twins have decided it is in the best interests of our fans, staff, players and community to not play today s game, according to a statement from the Twins.

Tonight we are reminded yet again of how much the pandemic has disrupted our lives.

COVID-19 has stripped us of essentials. We can t comfort loved ones in the hospital or collectively mourn at a funeral. Our hearts break week after week for everyone who has lost a loved one – including the families and friends of 188 of our neighbors who have died with COVID.
