NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - The Newberry County Sheriffâs Office has arrested a man after a 6-month investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics.
Cedric Lopez Wadsworth, 36, has been charged with distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of distribution of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, simple possession of marijuana, possession of a stolen pistol, and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of domestic violence.
Investigators say citizens would purchase illegal drugs from Wadsworth at his residence on Hwy 121 towards Whitmire.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, a former deputy with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office faces charges for submitting false statements in order to obtain unemployment benefits while he was working full time with the Sheriff’s Office. Officials say 49-year-old Detrick Vandice Bishop has been charged with nine counts of false statements or representations, or failures to disclose material facts, to obtain or increase benefits.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Bishop was an employee from April 5, 1998-February 16, 2021.
Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster gave the following statment in regards to the allegations. “It is bad enough to commit fraud and take away money from those that are actually on hard times, but to be a law enforcement officer is abhorrent.”
