Polly Toynbee, a columnist for The Guardian, said that the monarchy should now come to an end as republicanism witnesses a major surge in the UK.
Tonybee claimed that Queen Elizabeth II should be the last monarch of the country, urging the public to consider whether or not they want the royals to be part of the future. THE QUEEN is said to have lobbied ministers to change a law in order to prevent details of her personal wealth being made public, according to a report. But despite some backlash, Express.co.uk readers have backed in Her Majesty s right to privacy in a poll.
THE QUEEN has been caught up in claims she lobbied the Government in order to prevent the extent of her private fortune from being made public. One royal commentator has branded the claims an "anti-monarchist conspiracy theory" and argued there is no public interest in the Queen's private wealth being revealed.
