INDIA: Twitter urged the government yesterday to respect free speech, saying it was worried about the safety of its staff in the country.
Indian police have questioned staff over their decision to label a tweet by a politician of the ruling Hindu chauvinist BJP “manipulated media.”
Twitter said it has “concerns with regards to the use of intimidation tactics by the police” and “the potential threat to freedom of expression for the people we serve.”
