World Bank Has Disputed Nigeria s Employment Statistics – Ngige – Channels Television

  The World Bank has questioned the methodology employed the National Bureau of Statistics to to generate its employment statistics. Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige revealed this on Wednesday during while receiving the leadership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) in his office. According to the NBS, in a report released in March, the country’s unemployment rate rose from 27.1 percent in the second quarter of 2020 to 33.3 percent in the fourth quarter. Ngige said the Federal Government will meet virtually with World Bank representatives on Thursday to discus the modalities of the NBS’s data gathering. “We have a virtual meeting of the National Economic Advisory Council with the World Bank to look at Nigeria’s modalities for employment statistics data collection,” Ngige said, according to a statement signed by spokesman Charles Akpan.

Akeredolu appoints new Head of Service

Share The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Thursday, approved the appointment of Mr John Adeniran Adeyemo, as the Head of Service (HoS) in the state. A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Olabode Richard Olatunde said Adeyemo appointment follows the statutory retirement of Mr. Dare Aragbaye on March 11, 2021. Olatunde said the appointment of the new HoS is in line with the provisions of Section 208, Sub-section 3 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended) and in recognition of Adeyemo’s track records of years of dedication, trustworthiness, reliability and efficiency. Prior to his appointment as Head of Service, John Adeyemo, who joined the state public service in 1990 as an Administrative Officer II was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Orientation.
