Free diagnostic services to urban poor in Telangana By IANS|   Published: 23rd January 2021 12:49 am IST Hyderabad, Jan 22 : In another move to provide free healthcare facilities to poor in urban areas, the Telangana government on Friday launched eight Telangana Diagnostics mini hubs in Greater Hyderabad. Officials said Telangana Diagnostics is a first-of-its-kind initiative to provide quality diagnostic and imaging services free of cost to the public. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Mnister K. T. Rama Rao, Health Minister Eatala Rajender, Home Minister Mehmood Ali and other ministers inaugurated the mini hubs at urban primary healthcare centres. The mini hubs began their operations with pathological services and this will be subsequently expanded to the imaging services.

The government had identified 4,296 people for Day 1 and around 4,000 turned up at almost 140 sites across Telangana. Among the people who were provided the first dose of Covishield vaccine were doctors, nurses, auxiliary nurse midwives and sanitation staff. 11 people recorded mild adverse events after immunisation reactions like pain at the area of the vaccination, giddiness and sweating. Health officials were happy that 92% of them took the shot and that they would attempt to convince those who were afraid.

The pediment has ‘1896 Laboratories’ written on it. “We used to manufacture vaccines here until a few years ago. Now, this is a RT-PCR testing centre for COVID-19 which is functioning from the new block,” says a health official at the rear of the abandoned building known as Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM).
