With blonde hair and red boots to match her lipstick, Shonette Bason-Wood is a force of nature.
After raising four children as a single mother, she quit her teaching job to set up a motivational teaching company which quickly turned over up to £250,000 a year and employed eight staff.
But then the pandemic hit and turnover dropped by two thirds. My business went from thriving to literally full stop within a matter of five days from the first lockdown, she explains. And I ve got four children who I absolutely adore, who are adults and that s what brought me back - and my dog as well.

Extinction Rebellion blockade leads to arrests at MoD Abbey Wood in Bristol - as it happened
Protesters from XR and Christian Climate Action have descended on the Ministry of Defence base this morning
Protesters from Extinction Rebellion Bristol and Christian Climate Action blocked access to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) site at Abbey Wood near Bristol this morning (Friday, December 12).
The blockade was intended to draw attention to what the protestors describe as the government’s “dangerously inadequate response” to the climate emergency.
Protestors arrived at around 7am and prevented entry to three access roads to the building with a blockade.
