Westchester County, New York – On March 11, 2021, the New York State Police conducted a targeted Speed enforcement detail on State Route 9 in the Town of Cortlandt and the Village of Croton-on-Hudson.
The operation was conducted in furtherance of our mission to ensure highway safety for all users of the roadway. A total of 26 tickets were issued during the targeted enforcement period, 23 of which were for speed-related offenses.
Speeding is listed as a contributing factor in nearly one-third of all fatal crashes in New York State. According to the Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research (ITSMR) at the University at Albany, in 2017, 301 people were killed and 18,178 were injured in New York State in speed-related crashes.
