I ve been on a little break with some of my family including two grandies. It was so much fun. I have to admit I was not looking forward to the ferry crossing. I ve had a couple of bad experiences but decided I would just have to put my big girl pants on and take a pill.

Heritage park gallery keeps Woollaston works alive

Atkins Gallery reopened at Founders in October 2020, after a two-year break. The specialist gallery deals exclusively with Toss Wollaston watercolours and drawings of the Nelson/Tasman region, alongside artwork by a small selection of local artists including quality jewellery and ceramics. Woollaston’s works currently on display include watercolours of Tasman Bay, Mt Campbell , Mt Arthur, Lyttleton Harbour and Horoirangi. Also included are drawings, with an early sketch from Māpua and an early portrait of the famous local identity Eelco Boswijk. Gallery owner Linda Atkins said she was fortunate to have the chance to exhibit Woollaston’s artworks – one of a select few around the country to do so.

New brews to peruse at Marchfest 2021

Visitors can head to The FlexiTenz Tasting Bar and Cryer Malt Brew Zone to learn about the ingredients and process involved in making beer, as well as Brew Talks with a range of commercial craft brewers answering questions about their approach to making great craft beer. The 11 top of the south brews on offer feature a familiar list of producers unleashing new tastes on the public. LUZ ZUNIGA Hop on down – Spencer Barrack, Kim Brakes and Luke Ellis, during the 2020 version of the Marchfest event. This was none more evident in the offerings of Marlborough-based breweries Renaissance and Funk Estate.

Drum n bass, flamenco and rock royalty roll into Nelson

The big crowds are expected to be back the following Saturday when Marchfest returns for 2021, with a lineup of Kiwi 15 brewers and live music from Racing, Hoody Time and The Eastern. It’s only natural to be disappointed that Tuesday’s show was postponed but don’t dream it’s over –Crowded House will play their re-scheduled Nelson show on the band’s To The Island Tour on Wednesday March 17. Original members Neil Finn and Nick Seymour are joined by next generation Finns Liam and Elroy as well as keyboardist and former band producer Mitchell Froom, playing all the hits and new tunes at the Trafalgar Centre, beginning at 6.30pm.
