The GLC also gets remote engine start with the Mercedes Me Connect tech
The 2021 GLC continues to use the same engine options and hardware
Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the 2021 GLC SUV with Mercedes Me Connect and a host of new features. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is priced from 57.40 lakh, going up to ₹ 63.15 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India). The SUV is the latest from the German automaker to get its connected car technology that has become a staple feature in all new launches from the brand. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class was also updated with the tech earlier this month. Do note that the updated model is independent of the 15 product launches that Mercedes-Benz India has announced for 2021.
Subaru is a bit of an enigma here in the UK. Elsewhere, in countries such as the US and Australia, the Japanese company’s cars are more appreciated and sell in much bigger numbers. The brand’s capable 4x4s are renowned for their durability and owners are intensively loyal, holding onto their cars for longer than any rivals. Jaguar Land Rover marked the end of 2020 with a second successive quarter-on-quarter recovery in sales, despite the continuing impact of COVID-19.
Retail sales for the quarter ending 31 December 2020 were 128,469 vehicles, 13.1% higher than the 113,569 vehicles sold in the preceding quarter, but down 9.0% on the same period last year. China sales were particularly encouraging, up 20.2% on the prior quarter and 19.1% year-on-year.
Retail sales in most other regions also continued to recover and were up significantly on the prior quarter in North America (+31.7%), Overseas (+26.6%) which is where the sub-Sahara African markets contribute, and Europe (+20.5%). However, sales in these regions have not yet recovered to pre-Covid levels with sales for the quarter lower than a year ago in North America (-17.2%), Overseas (-20.0%), Europe (-16.3%) and the UK (-8.9%).
Like many carmakers and even brands in general, Jaguar Land Rover has reported a drop in global sales for 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic. But judging by the last quarter results, the British company is showing signs of recovery.
