The Covid collections of Graduate Fashion Week 2021 Share Add to Bookmarks
Making its return after a Covid hiatus, we look at some of this year’s most promising students
Every year, Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) celebrates the sector’s up-and-coming stars. And after 2020’s event was derailed by the pandemic and celebrated digitally, it’s back with a bang to celebrate its 30
th anniversary this June.
The event, on 12-18 June at Coal Drops Yard in London s King s Cross, will showcase work from BA students graduating in 26 different specialisms, and is run by charitable organisation the Graduate Fashion Foundation. Students will show their designs in 12 catwalks. Winners will be chosen for categories including the prestigious Christopher Bailey Collection of the Year and Sustainability Trailblazer Awards.
The Independent Label Market (ILM) will return to London this summer, marking its tenth anniversary on 10th July 2021 at Coal Drops Yard, King s Cross.
Founded in 2011 out of Soho s Berwick Street market, the organisation has since expanded to events across the world, forging close ties to more than 600 imprints in the process. The UK capital s 2020 edition was cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Labels involved at the forthcoming date include DJ Mag favourites like Hyperdub, Late Night Tales, AD 93, and Erased Tapes, the latter having just carried the latest long form from Nils Frahm. They join a host of seminal independents such as Sunday Best, Cherry Red, 4AD, Brownswood and Rough Trade.

The 100-seat terrace looks out over both the canal and the concourse below. The well-trained staff will check your temperature on the way then bring a mini grill to your table, so you can cook sizzling titbits in the sunshine and daydream of Ibitha. I ate there last week, and rate the asparagus, la
