Noida to increase random testing of people commuting to and from Delhi

Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has decided to increase the number of random coronavirus tests for people commuting to and from Delhi. Number of COVID tests will be increased in areas bordering Delhi. For people commuting to and from the national capital, the random tests for the virus will be conducted, District Magistrate Suhas LY said while speaking to reporters on Thursday. The tests will be conducted at the Delhi-Noida border area. Students at AMU seek arrest of religious leader Narsinghanand

Students at Aligarh Muslim University held a protest march on Sunday, demanding the arrest of religious leader Narsinghanand Saraswati for his remarks against the Prophet. The protesters marched to the university gate and handed over a memorandum to the local authorities, demanding immediate arrest of Narsinghanand for the alleged bid to promote disharmony between different religious groups and thereby endangering peace of the land. The memorandum stated that the Prophet had strongly prohibited Muslims from hurting religious sentiments of others. FIR against 92 teachers in UP for using fake documents to get job

An FIR has been registered in Uttar Pradesh s Balrampur district against 92 government teachers for allegedly submitting forged educational certificates to get the job. The FIR was lodged at the Kotwali police station in Balrampur under the charges of dishonesty and fraudulently using genuine documents. The fraud was detected during a probe by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (upstf). Circle Officer Varun Mishra said that the FIR was filed on the basis of a complaint of the basic education officer Ramchandra. Mishra said the teachers had been working since 2010 in the district. They had procured the marksheets of candidates who had qualified but were working in some other district.

Noida coronavirus update: 17 new Covid-19 cases, tally rises to 25,664

Uttar Pradesh s Gautam Buddh Nagar recorded 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday that pushed the district s infection tally to 25,664, official data showed. The active cases in the district rose to 84 from 75 the previous day, according to the data released by the UP Health Department for a 24-hour period. Another eight patients got discharged during the period with the overall recoveries reaching 25,489, the fifth highest in the state, it showed. Gautam Buddh Nagar has a death toll of 91 with a mortality rate of 0.35 per cent. The recovery rate of patients reached 99.31 per cent, the statistics showed. Meanwhile, the number of active COVID-19 cases in UP came down marginally to 1,817 from 1,819 on Friday while the overall recoveries reached 5,94,550 and the death toll reached at 8,745 on Saturday, the data showed.
