The discussion comes one week after Gov. Tate Reeves signed a new executive order lifting all but one of his previous COVID-19 regulations that d been intact for over a year.  Masks are required inside school buildings and classrooms through the end of the 2020-2021 school year, according to Reeves recent order. As of Friday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported 240 new COVID-19 cases and two coronavirus-related deaths.

Tate Reeves has signed an executive order Friday lifting all but one of his previous COVID-19 restrictions which have been in place for more than a year.  The new order, which will go into effect at 5 p.m. today, still requires masks to be worn for the rest of the 2020-2021 school year. Under guidance from State Health Officer Thomas Dobbs, the new order requires face coverings to be worn inside school buildings and classrooms, including whenever social distancing can t be maintained.  Once in effect, the order will remain in full effect unless it is amended or rescinded.
