MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Breaking with other Southern GOP governors, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey extended her state’s mask order for another month Thursday but said the requirement will end for good in April.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Monday was a special day for grocery store workers around Alabama.
Gov. Kay Ivey proclaimed Monday as Supermarket Employee Day in Alabama.
At a press conference with the Alabama Grocers Association, the governor thanked the grocery store workers for being on the front lines and continuing to work while many other businesses closed due to the pandemic.
Ivey remarked how working from home is not an option for grocery store employees because “we simply cannot go without basic supplies.”
DeKalb County teachers and educational staff received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine Friday.Â
On Jan. 29, 2021, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and State Health Officer Scott Harris announced the expansion of eligibility for Covid-19 vaccinations for critical workers, including those who work in the education sector.Â
During last Thursday nightâs board of education meeting, DeKalb County Superintendent Jason Barnett announced the vaccination clinic for employees on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021.Â
He said county employees had done an amazing job maneuvering the school year while in the middle of a pandemic.Â
âOur folks came to work and made a positive impact on our students lives and our community, and I am so thankful for that,â said Barnett. âNow that the vaccine is available, it was important for me to try and get it to them as quickly and timely as possible.âÂ
