Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has said his government would continue to work on measures to consolidate the drive towards salvaging education and fast-tracking meaningful development in the state.
Buni disclosed this on the occasion of the presentation of reports by the Committee on the Almajiri System of Education and Strategic Plan by the State Universal Basic Education Board on Tuesday at Government House, Damaturu.
He said, like most states in the North, Our’anic, Almajiri or Tsangaya schools have been part of the educational and religious upbringing.
“Most people get enrolled in the Tsangaya schools before enrolling into formal schools, such schools provided both the religious knowledge required for documentation of transactions among others.

In a bid to add aesthetic values to the school environment and rid them of miscreants, the Ekiti State government has begun the demolition of dilapidated and substandard structures in 532 primary schools across the State.
This, according to the government would allow for the beautification programme of Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration and efforts to boost pupils and teachers’ performances at the primary cadre.
The government also warned about 1,000 new primary school teachers employed by Fayemi’s government to refrain from certificate and age falsifications, saying whoever apprehended for such crime would be dismissed.

The Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board(SUBEB), Prof Femi Akinwumi, spoke in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, while flagging off the demolition exercise at Mount Mary Nursery/Primary School, Oke Ila, Ado Ekiti.

The Ekiti State government has warned about 1,000 new primary school teachers employed by the government to refrain from certificate and age falsifications, saying whoever is apprehended for such crime would be dismissed.
Addressing the new teachers undergoing induction course at Christ Girls School Hall in Ado-Ekiti, on Monday, the Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Femi Akinwumi, urged the new tutors to display professionalism and be guided by principles of teaching to give the pupils deserving education.
Akinwumi said whoever betrays the civil service rules, which borders on dedication, honesty, hardwork and professionalism, will be dismissed from the service.

THE Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has said that a new strategy is being adopted to mainstream basic education and address the challenges of out-of-school children the North-Eastern part of the country.
Executive secretary of UBEC, Dr Hamid Bobboyi who made this known recently when he received a high powered committee on reform of Tsangaya system of education in Borno State, said the Alarammas are also enjoined to sustain the Islamic, Qur’anic and Tsangaya Education (IQTE).
The IQTE training is designed to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to deliver English, Hausa, Maths and social studies lessons alongside Quranic education.
