Chennai, April 19 : The Tamil Nadu state transport corporation is to alter the services of long distance buses which generally ply after 7 p.m. With the surge in Covid cases, the department will be altering the services of these buses to morning time instead of overnight and late night travels.

TNSTC alters timings of operation of its bus services
Allaying fears on shortage of vaccine in the district due to phased supply, Collector V. Vishnu on Monday said priority was being given to administration of the second dose.
In an informal chat with reporters after inaugurating distribution of
kabasurakudineer at the Collectorate, Mr. Vishnu said the district received 3,000 doses of vaccine on Saturday lsst and top priority was being accorded to administration of the second dose to those who received the first shot six weeks ago.

While the SETC bus was heading to Chennai from Vedaranyam, the lorry was proceeding to Chidambaram from Cuddalore. Three persons were killed on the spot and 37 injured in a head-on collision between a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus and a fish-laden lorry at Periyapattu near Chidambaram in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased were identified as bus driver Sivakumar, 42, and passengers A. Anbarasan and R. Vairavan of Nagapattinam district.

Labour Progressive Federation senior leader K. Natarajan said, “The trade unions would go on an indefinite strike from tomorrow [Friday].”

Police said the injured have been admitted to the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital
Fifteen persons were injured in a head-on collision involving two government buses at Koliyanur near here in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to police, a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus was going from Chennai to Peravurani when it collided head-on with a Chennai-bound TNSTC bus from Kumbakonam.
