Nigerians on social media have raised about N500,000 to compensate an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sunday Erhator for his professional conduct and restrain when assaulted by a traffic offender, Victor Ebhomenyen, in the Oniru area of Lagos State.
33-year-old Ebhomenyen had on Saturday assaulted the policeman at Four Point Hotel in Oniru and inflicted severe body injuries on him, according to Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi.
In viral videos, Ebhomenyen and an accomplice, Etinosa Obaywana, who is now at large, were seen pushing the chest of Erhator and spewing expletives after the policeman and his colleagues attached to the Rapid Response Squad of the state command stopped a white Hyundai SUV, MUS 251 EH facing their convoy on one-way.

The police in Lagos say they have arrested a 33-year old man, Victor Ebhomenyen, for assaulting an Assistant Superintendent of Police near the Four Point Hotel in Victoria Island on Saturday.
In a video shared on social media, the suspect and another man were seen pushing and hitting the police officer shouting ‘Wetin we do?’ ‘You want to shoot us?’ Na your one way? ‘You don already scatter our car,’ and others.
According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson, the police officer, Erhator Sunday, blocked and stopped the suspect for allegedly driving against traffic.
The police said the suspect Mr Ebhomenyen and the other occupant of the car, Etinosa Obaywana, “came down angrily, confronted and violently assaulted the officer and inflicted bodily injuries on him.”

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Victor Ebhomenyen for allegedy driving against traffic at Four Point Hotel, Oniru in Lagos State.
Ebhomenyen was alleged to have also assaulted and caused severe bodily injuries on ASP Erhator Sunday at Four Point Hotel, Oniru, Lagos.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Lagos Police Command’s Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
He said that the Command deemed it necessary to react and set the record straight regarding the incident that was captured in a video that went viral on the social media on Saturday April 17.
