Washington State Parks

Washington state has approved a request to use multiple Washington state parks to train Navy SEALs. But the move Thursday came with significant amendments to what the Navy requested.
The permits would expand the five parks previously used for Navy SEAL training to 16 or 17. The Navy had requested access to 28 state parks as a way to diversify its training sites. Officials had said a small number of sites can become too familiar to trainees overtime.
The commissioners called their move “difficult,” “hard” and “probably the toughest decision” of a 10-year commission career.
Parametrix hired
Jenifer Young as the environmental planning and compliance division manager for the Puget Sound region. The division includes approximately 50 staff in Seattle, Bremerton and Puyallup. Young served in this role from 2015 through 2018, when she relocated to New York City where she worked for VHB. Now back at Parametrix, she will further build the firm s National Environmental Policy Act and State Environmental Policy Act practice, working out of the Seattle office. Young has over 30 years of experience in preparing and managing environmental impact statements and related analyses for development projects. She was environmental manager on the State Route 520, I-5 to Medina bridge replacement. Parametrix provides engineering, planning and environmental sciences.
