Court acquits firecracker shop owner

AAA The Kozhikode fast-track special court on Saturday acquitted K.P. Jagadeesh, owner of Kerala Stationery Mart, in the case related to the major blaze on Moideen Palli Road, adjacent to S.M. Street in the city, almost 14 years ago.
Judge S.R. Syamlal found Jagadeesh not guilty in the case. Eight people were killed, several injured and property worth ₹15 crore destroyed in the fire that broke out on April 5, 2007.
The Crime Branch in September 2012 filed a chargesheet against Jagadeesh, who owned the wholesale firecracker shop from where the fire originated. The prosecution case was that he had carelessly stockpiled firecrackers in a wholesale shop.
Another fake ghee manufacturing unit busted in Bhubaneswar Post News Network
Bhubaneswar: One month after a fake ghee manufacturing unit was busted in Odisha’s Cuttack, the Commissionerate Police Tuesday busted yet another fake ghee manufacturing unit at Kaibalya Nagar in Sundarpada area of Bhubaneswar.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of a QAT and Airfield police raided the place and seized a huge amount of adulterated ghee. They seized a huge quantity of fake ghee, edible oil and machines worth lakhs of rupees. Pouches bearing logos of branded companies were also seized.
If consumed on regular basis, the adulterated ghee would lead to an increase in transfat and subsequent heart-related ailments, an official said.

It is not surprising that among the stories mystifying Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s death, the ‘Baba’ stories appealed more to the people than any others. India being the land of sadhus and mystics it is but natural that people would like to believe that their immortal Netaji would lead an eternal life in the form of a sadhu.
SIT is also probing whether the accused took the help of anyone else to destroy the evidence.

BHUBANESWAR: A day after arresting the prime accused of Nayagarh minor girl s rape and murder, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday said that it has sufficient evidence against him. The prime accused was questioned a couple of times in the last 10 days and we have sufficient evidence against him. The district police had also questioned him earlier, SIT Chief Arun Bothra told the media persons in Nayagarh.
SIT is also probing whether the accused took the help of anyone else to destroy the evidence.
