Gov. Mike Parson promised to work on behalf of all Missourians after being sworn in for his first full term Jan. 11 though he didn’t mention in the speech specific items he hopes to achieve in the coming four years.
Parson, a Republican who ascended to the state’s highest office in June 2018 following the resignation of Gov. Eric Greitens, was sworn in by Circuit Judge Sarah Castle of Kansas City. Castle, who uses a wheelchair because she lost the use of her legs to a rare disease at age 11, was appointed by Parson to her current post in October.

Bishop W. Shawn McKnight of Jefferson City prayed Jan. 11 that God would bless and guide the newly sworn officials of Missouri s executive branch to lead not just with the power of their office but also with the moral authority founded on personal integrity and character.

Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick, Secretary of State John R. Ashcroft and Attorney General Eric Schmitt also swore in during Monday s ceremony.

Governor Mike Parson will be sworn in as Missouri’s 57th Governor this morning.
Today marks Missouri’s Bicentennial Inauguration, as the Show-Me State celebrates 200 years of statehood later this year.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in Jefferson City on the South Lawn of the Capitol building.

To prepare for the upcoming inauguration, a prayer service was held for Gov. Parson in Bolivar over the weekend. Over 100 people gathered at Southwest Baptist University on Saturday to pray with the Parson family.
During the inauguration, other elected officials will also take their oath, such as State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, Attorney General Eric Schmitt, and Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe.
