Trooper Krull Offers Advice On Driving In Fog

January 8, 2021 Northwest Iowa For the past few days our area may have seemed like foggy old London with the amount of fog we’ve been experiencing most days, and the forecast says there is more fog to come for a few more days. Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull offers some advice for driving in fog. (As above) “Fog is one of those dangerous things that we don’t think about often until we’re right there in the middle of it. One of the best things to do is slow down. I can’t say it enough…slow down and give yourself that extra distance, because you can’t see almost hardly in front of your windshield sometimes. So give yourself that extra space and that extra time by just slowing your speeds down.”

December 31, 2020 Northwest Iowa Several northwest Iowa law enforcement agencies are participating in a national effort to help stop impaired driving during the holiday season. The Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau tells us that motorists have seen an increased presence of law enforcement this New Year’s weekend. Iowa law enforcement officers across the state and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (or NHTSA) are removing impaired drivers from the roads and helping to save lives. Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull says this season is known for being the deadliest season when it comes to impaired driving.

Iowa State Patrol Talks National Impaired Driving Prevention Month December 18, 2020 5:59 am Saga Communications Spencer, IA (KICD)– For nearly four decades the month of December has been recognized as National Impaired Driving Prevention Month because the holidays being the deadliest time on the roads. Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull tells the designation was first recognized by President Regan in 1981 as the number of impaired driving fatalities began to rise from around 33 to 50 percent between Thanksgiving and the end of the year. Trooper Krull tells there appeared to be some improvements in fatalities involving impaired driving within the last decade until two years ago when the statistics shot back up again.
