During National Travel and Tourism Week, May 2-8, cities across the United States are promoting the best their communities have to offer to increase visitations to local attractions, events, and businesses. The push for tourism is crucial as cities across the country attempt to bounce back after more than a year of decreased travels and public outings. The COVID-19 pandemic has “devasted all of Louisiana,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the Shreveport Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau is focused on rebuilding the local economy and tourism and hospitality industries. “Travel and tourism is a huge impact on our economy,” said Stacy Brown, president of SBCTB. “It is one of the best ways we can come back from COVID and one of the quickest ways.”
