(WBRC) - Starting Monday, the Birmingham VA tells us they should be able to give shots to 1,000 veterans 65 and older every week day. And now, they expect to see more veterans enroll with the VA to get their shot. Right now, there are about 70,000 veterans enrolled out of a potential 200,000 in the area. Up until now, the Birmingham VA Health Care System has been able to vaccinate up to 300 veterans over 65 with the Pfizer vaccine.

(WBRC) - Starting Monday, January 25th, the Birmingham VA will have a lot more space to vaccinate veterans. The Birmingham VA Health Care System (BVAHCS) is partnering with United Way to expand its COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic, which will move to the United Way Building. The United Way Building is located at 3600 8th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35222. Right now, BVAHCS is able to vaccinate up to 300 veterans 65 and older with the Pfizer vaccine. But starting Monday, they should be able to give shots to 1,000 vets 65 and older every day Monday through Friday.

(WBRC) - High-risk veterans and healthcare personnel are the first to receive COVID-19 vaccinations at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced its dynamic VA Vaccination Distribution Plan, and the Birmingham VA Health Care System began vaccinating Veterans and health care employees Tuesday. The first to get the vaccines were three veterans, all three POWs, and two healthcare employees. BVAHCS is one of the first 37 VA sites across the country selected to provide the vaccines for its ability to vaccinate large numbers of people and store the vaccines at extremely cold temperatures.
