The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is reporting an additional 18 cases of COVID-19 which have screened positive for variants of concern.
This is according to the updated case summary posted on the RCDHU website late April 8, which showed 38 cases involving variants of concern, up from 20 cases involving VOC reported April 5. The health unit first reported VOC on the March 29 case summary.

On April 8, the health unit reported seven new positive cases in Renfrew County and district and two additional resolved cases. The summary reported 31 active cases with two people in the intensive care unit, two people hospitalized and 27 individuals self-isolating. There were 10 new cases since the April 5 summary – nine community cases and one school case (a student at St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School
