STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A new summer program will be open to all New York City students in grades K-12 providing enrichment opportunities and free child care to anyone who wants to participate.
The Summer Rising program is open to all students, not just those who fall behind during the academic year. It will offer academic classes, social-emotional learning and other enrichment opportunities, such as art activities, outdoor recreation and field trips.
District 57 names Westbrook principal Vonder Haar as asst. superintendent teaching/learning Dr. Kristin Vonder Haar, principal of Westbrook School for Young Learners in Mount Prospect School District 57, has been named as assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, effective July 1.

Mount Prospect School District 57 has named Dr. Kristin Vonder Haar, principal of Westbrook School for Young Learners, as the District s new assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, replacing Dr. Mary Gorr. Gorr will become superintendent when Dr. Elaine Aumiller retires on July 1. Dr. Vonder Haar has been a respected leader at Westbrook for the past two years, and assistant principal before that, and we re thankful for her many contributions there, Aumiller says. We feel she is the best candidate and well-equipped for this important district-wide position.
