‘Priority is to protect most vulnerable’
Jammu Tawi, Apr 07: The central government on Wednesday said their first priority is to protect most vulnerable persons and there will be no COVID-19 vaccination for all age groups anytime soon.
While responding to the growing demands that COVID vaccination must be given to every age group, Rajesh Bhushan, Union Health Secretary said that the approach is that those vulnerable to mortality need to be covered at the earliest to protect them.
“We first want to reach to people who need vaccination and not to the one who demands,” he said adding that they have to focus on COVID appropriate behaviour and containment measures.

New Delhi, April 6 : The Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking all citizens above 18 years of age be vaccinated and that a limited period continuous lockdown be implemented, especially for all the non-essential areas like cinemas, cultural and religious events, and sports.
In the letter to Modi, IMA President Dr J.A. Jayalal stated that in spite of the extraordinary efforts of the Government and the modern medical fraternity altruistic services, the pandemic second wave surge is touching record heights.

The ongoing Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, Uttarakhand is becoming a super-spreading event and the government hopes that the SOP formulated for it is being implemented, the Union health ministry said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference on the Covid-19 situation in India, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, Maha Kumbh is becoming a super-spreader event. The duration of the Kumbh Mela has already been curtailed from 3-4 months to one month this year.
