An aspiring Nomads gang member has been jailed for more than five years over the killing of a gang associate who was due a hiding .
Justin Richard Burke, 33, had denied killing Shayne George Heappey, 25, during a brutal attack where he was stabbed and cut 14 times in December 2018.
But after a two-week trial at the High Court in Christchurch last November where he was cleared of murder, a jury found Burke guilty on a charge of manslaughter.

A Christchurch man has been jailed for his role in a fatal stabbing he had hoped would be his ticket to becoming a patched member of the Nomads gang. Justin Richard Burke, 32, was sentenced at the High Court in Christchurch on Wednesday to five years and two months’ imprisonment. In November, Burke was convicted for manslaughter for his role in the death of Shayne George Heappey at a house in Russley, Christchurch, on December 8, 2018.
