It also generated 182 jobs, the Manila Bureau of Permits said on Thursday (Feb. 18).
Thirty-seven stalls at Mehan Garden and 11 stalls from two malls, Robinsons Place Manila and Lucky Chinatown Mall, participated in the event.
Bureau of Permits Director Levi Facundo attributed the success of the Valentine’s month event to the city government’s efforts to boost consumer confidence.
“The abovementioned figures will surely help our local economy and the people who benefited from this event. These kinds of events are very helpful to the local economy to help balance and complete the economic business cycle,” he said in a statement.

The city’s five serology testing machines that were previously used to process blood samples from the city’s drive-thru, walk-in, and mobile serology testing facility will now be used to detect other illnesses such as cancer, hepatitis, thyroid diseases, among other infectious diseases.
These are installed at the following hospitals: Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center, Ospital ng Tondo, and Ospital ng Sampaloc.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said they decided to “upgrade” their serology testing to the “gold standard” reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing since they are now capable of swab testing more people.

In a Facebook post, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said this will be done to give way for the celebration of upcoming holidays such as Christmas and New Year’s Day.
The mass swab testing operations will resume on December 28 until 30. It will then be suspended again from December 31 up to January 4, 2021.
“Layunin po nating mabigyan ng kapanatagan ang mga mamimili at matiyak ang kaligtasan ng lahat (It is our goal to give buyers assurance and ensure everyone’s safety),” Domagoso said in his post.
“Makakaasa po kayong mananatili ninyong katuwang ang Pamahalaang Lungsod sa pagtugon sa pandemyang ito! May awa ang Diyos, makakaraos din po tayo (You may rest assured that the city government will continue to assist you in addressing this pandemic! God is merciful, we will see this through),” he added.
