30-Year-Old Serial Rapist, Hamza Yusuf, Arrested For Defiling Minor In Sokoto

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Sokoto State has arrested a 30-year-old alleged serial rapist suspect. Mr Umar Musa-Bala, the state Commandant of the NSCDC in Sokoto, told newsmen on Monday that the alleged suspect, Hamza Yusuf, defiled three minors. “We received a distress call that, a serial rapist was arrested and was about to be lynched in Mabera area. ”We swiftly swung into action and rescued him from a mob who wanted to kill him and brought him to our office. ”We were able to identify three of his victims who are all below the age of 10 and medical investigation proved defilement beyond the reasonable doubt,” Musa-Bala said

JUSUN strike: Anambra NBA blocks Govt House, insists on financial autonomy for judicial workers

Share Members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Anambra State branch, on Monday blocked the entrance of the state Government House over the lingering strike of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN). Tribune Online recalls that JUSUN about a month ago declared an indefinite nationwide strike to press home demand for financial autonomy of the judiciary. The Anambra lawyers blocked the Government House entrance, impeding exit and entry to the place for hours. Some of their placards read, “Gov Obiano please implement the constitutional provisions on financial autonomy and independence of the judiciary”, “Anambra State branches of NBA demand financial autonomy and independence of the judiciary.”

Fayemi promises to elevate young, female lawyers as judges

Share Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has reaffirmed his commitment to the elevation of young, dynamic and competent lawyers to the bench as part of ways to champion judicial reforms and enhance dispensation of justice in the state. Fayemi stated this on Monday when the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ado-Ekiti Branch, Mr Adeyemi Adewumi, led other executive members on a courtesy visit to the Governor’s Office in Ado Ekiti. Anambra lawyers block govt house gate over Obiano s refusal to speak on JUSUN strike

Daily Post Nigeria Published Lawyers in Anambra State on Monday blocked the gate of the government house, Awka, insisting that Governor, Willie Obiano must speak on the ongoing strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN). The lawyers, though few, represented all the eight branches of NBA in the state and were led to the protest by the chairman of the Nnewi Branch of the NBA and the and chairman, committee of chairmen, Barr Kingsley Awuka. The protesting lawyers blocked the gate of the government house, refusing cars entry or exit from the government house while also causing long traffic of vehicles outside and inside the state’s seat of power.
