The president of America’s second-largest teachers union is calling on all schools to be open for five days a week of in-person learning for the next academic year.
Randi Weingarten, the head of the American Federation of Teachers, made the declaration Thursday as about only half of the nation’s school districts are back for fully in-person learning, according to data from the Return to Learn Tracker website. As of early May, Florida and Iowa are the only states in the country that have all of their schoolchildren back in classrooms, while every other state is still offering varying degrees of in-person and online instruction, the data shows.

Despite unified GOP opposition including from Leader Kevin McCarthy and Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan, Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), at the bidding of establishment media and News Corp lobbyists, continues to push the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA), a Democrat-backed bill that would allow Big Media companies to form a cartel to pressure tech companies for more censorship and special favors.
The bill was introduced and initially championed by a Democrat congressman, Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI), and was sold to Republicans like Buck as a means of taking on Big Tech. House Republican leadership including Kevin McCarthy and Jim Jordan have opposed the bill.

Two Republican lawmakers requested a hearing to examine legal conservatorships, citing pop star Britney Spears widely reported arrangement involving her father as the conservator of her estate.
House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., asked Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., to schedule a hearing to examine potentially unjust conservatorships.
Conservatorships are used to allocate financial or personal decisions to another person in the case that an individual is unable to make them on their own.
