Trump s 1st Circ. Pick In Limbo As Sens. OK District Judges
Law360 (December 16, 2020, 7:53 PM EST) President Donald Trump s last pending appeals court nomination is up in the air after a top Republican senator said Wednesday that President-elect Joe Biden should fill the First Circuit vacancy, even as the Senate confirmed two of Trump s district court picks for Tennessee and South Carolina, including a Kirkland alum approved by a single vote.

Attorney General William Barr resigned on Monday, effective December 23. Barr was one of the two smartest and most effective Trump administration employees (the other being Secretary of State Mike Pompeo), and he was one of the best AGs in recent memory. As we have written on occasions too numerous to list, he served his country well, and every Patriot should thank Mr. Barr for doing his job with integrity and tenaciousness.
Itâs admittedly unusual that heâd depart a month before the end of President Donald Trumpâs term, but perhaps the Electoral College vote was sufficient. The resignation has prompted an outpouring of support from top Republicans.

William Barr To Step Down As Attorney General Before Christmas

Attorney General William Barr, an outspoken proponent of conservative values and an expansive view of presidential power, will leave office before Christmas, President Trump announced in a tweet Monday afternoon.
Trump said he and Barr had a very nice meeting at the White House and that their relationship has been a very good one.
Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen will become acting attorney general, Trump said.
In a letter to the president, Barr said he is proud to have played a role in Trump s administration, and said he would depart December 23.
