Bounon Tonsay, 29, was arrested after he called the police over a dispute with a neighbor. When officers arrived, he told them he had fired a gun through the ceiling of his home at the neighbors. Due to previous violent crime convictions, Tonsay was prohibited from owning a firearm or ammunition. He was charged with two counts of firearm violation and reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality, all felonies.

Ka Wah, 28, of Fulda, was arrested in January 2020 after two co-workers reported that he had threatened to bring a gun to work and kill them along with others. Wah was charged with felony threats of violence with intent to terrorize. He pleaded guilty to this offense. Fifth Judicial District Judge Sherry Haley judged Wah to be guilty of the crime but reduced Wah s conviction from a felony to a gross misdemeanor. She sentenced him to 360 days in jail with a stay of execution, meaning that he will be allowed to serve two years of supervised probation instead.

Written By: Leah Ward | × Wright WORTHINGTON A Worthington man will serve two years of supervised probation for a criminal case in which he was convicted of fourth-degree assault of a peace officer when he spat on an officer during an altercation at a convenience store last year. Tre Quan Wright, 20, was arrested in July 2020 when police responded to a report that Wright was fighting with another person at Worthington s Food-N-Fuel. When an officer attempted to break up the fight, Wright reportedly began spitting on the officer. He was eventually arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, domestic assault by strangulation, obstruction of the legal process and fourth-degree property damage.

He will serve four concurrent probation terms. Written By: Leah Ward | × Vasquez WORTHINGTON Several years of probation and hundreds of dollars in fines were ordered Thursday for a Rushmore man convicted on a number of criminal cases. Alejandro Alex Vasquez, 24, was arrested last July when it was reported that Vasquez had assaulted another person with a tire iron at Worthington s Freedom Veterans Memorial Park. He was charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in that case, and later pleaded guilty to the offense. Vasquez was charged in December with third-degree rioting in an assault that took place at the Ground Round in September. He pleaded guilty to that gross misdemeanor charge.
