Circumstances still unclear more than a month after college student Samuel Yeager fatally shot by Colorado deputy
Samuel Yeager, 23, was shot and killed by a Douglas County, Colorado sheriff’s deputy on April 3, the day before Easter Sunday. The killing occurred on a freeway exit just outside Castle Pines, south of Denver. It has been justified by the police, who claim that Yeager opened fire on a deputy with an AK-47 rifle.
The still unnamed deputies who were involved in killing the white college student have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an official investigation by the 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team from neighboring Arapahoe County.

DENVER â The 8th Judicial Districtâs Critical Incident Response Teamâs independent review of the violent arrest of a woman with dementia in Loveland is expected to be completed sometime this month, the district attorneyâs office said Friday.
The review of the June 2020 arrest of Karen Garner by Loveland police officers was initiated on April 19 a week after an attorney for Garner filed a federal lawsuit against the police department and officers claiming they used excessive force in arresting Garner â allegedly breaking her arm and dislocating her shoulder in the process.

District Attorney Daniel Rubinstein issued a notice to the the 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team that he had completed his review of its investigation and did not find cause to charge the deputy, Jason Bailey. Bailey was acting in defense of the victim when he shot Jason Unangst on March 7, Rubinstein wrote in his report.
Unangst, 33, survived the shooting and has been charged with attempted murder in the first degree, as well as assault and arson in the case. Unangst was allegedly holding a knife to the throat of the victim when Bailey made the decision to shoot. Unangst had previously doused the woman with lighter fluid and set her on fire, causing second and third degree burns, according to the report.

MESA COUNTY, Colo. â The 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating an incident that ended with a shooting involving at least one Mesa County deputy.
At 10:49 a.m. Sunday, the Grand Junction Regional Communications Center received a call about a suspicious driver who was speeding and swerving on the Interstate 70 Business Loop, according to the 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team. The caller said the people in the car appeared to be arguing.
Shortly afterward, a witness said they saw a vehicle that matched the same description on the 400 block of Coronado Court and that a male had pulled a female into the home. The witness said she appeared to be in distress.
