A state appeals court has rejected claims by supervisors in a central Pennsylvania township that allowing a Weis Market to sell alcohol would harm the public s morals.

Saying local officials provided no evidence to back their claim that the proposal would be harmful to the public morals, a Commonwealth Court panel Wednesday cleared the way for a central Pennsylvania Weis Market to start selling alcohol.
That decision, outlined by Judge Christine Fizzano Cannon, thwarts an attempt by Lancaster Township supervisors to block a liquor license transfer sought by the Weis store that has operated in their municipality since 1962.
