Oxford Crown Court An addict who claimed he’d been stealing drugs from his dealer was accused of failing to repay the ‘chance’ he was given by an Oxford judge. Zywai Nyahoda, 32, who was caught in Grandpont Nature Park with heroin and crack last June, received a 23 month suspended sentence when his case came before Oxford Crown Court last year. But this week Judge Maria Lamb sent him to prison for 20 months for breaching that suspended sentence order by repeatedly failing to keep appointments with the probation service. And the court heard he’d not completed any of the structured rehabilitation work ordered by the judge last November.

Philip Chewings, 35, was said by the judge who sent him down for 27 months at Oxford Crown Court to be ‘no stranger to the use of violence’ when he didn’t get his way. Jailing him, Judge Maria Lamb said: “Your behaviour that night was the behaviour of a violent bully. “You went round to the address where your former partner and her children were. You attended, by the look of it, under the influence of some drink or drugs and you were in a vile and abusive mood.”

Oxford Crown Court Picture: ED NIX A convicted sex offender will have to wait a further two months to be sentenced. Anthony Baker, 31, was due to learn his fate at Oxford Crown Court on Monday, having earlier admitted breaching his sexual harm prevention order by failing to declare USB sticks, a smartphone, PlayStation console and Lenovo tablet to his police offender manager. But Judge Maria Lamb put the case back until September after hearing that the police, who had been charged with checking the devices to make sure they did not contain indecent images, had only just managed to access the Lenovo tablet. The other items had already been checked and found to contain no illegal material.
