Knifeman caught on CCTV in central Banbury

Sam Jones, 27, had been due to stand trial on allegations he was in possession of the knife outside the MooMoo nightclub on May 17, 2019, and used it to threaten others. But before his trial could get underway at Oxford Crown Court, Jones, of Bayly Road, Dartford, pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article. He will be sentenced on August 12. Two hours before Jones entered his plea, Judge Michael Gledhill QC was played footage from a camera on Banbury High Street, which showed the defendant get out the driver’s side of a red hatchback and chase after a small group of men.

Courier took £300 of heroin from Birmingham to settle drug debt

Oxford Crown Court Picture: ED NIX A drug addict was caught with nearly 30 wraps of heroin he’d been ordered to pick up from Birmingham. Gavin Green, 31, had been ordered to courier the wraps from the Midlands in order to pay off a drugs debt, Oxford Crown Court heard. The gangsters sent a female driver to pick him up from his Banbury home before driving him to Birmingham. Green was caught by police in the front seat of her car in Ruscote Avenue, Banbury, on August 4, 2020. Found on him was the parcel containing 27 wraps of heroin and an Alcatel mobile phone containing one message pointing to him being involved in the supply of class A drugs.

Oxford cannabis farmer s sentence delayed

Xhunjor Abazi, 20, had hoped to be sentenced on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty last month to producing cannabis at a property in Westbury Crescent, Oxford, on June 7. But Judge Michael Gledhill QC put the case back until Friday after hearing that a co-defendant, who faces the same charge, was due before the crown court on that day. Defending, Toby Long asked the judge to proceed to sentence on Tuesday afternoon – saying his client was very nervous and hoped to learn his fate there and then.
