DOVER, Del. (AP) â The Boy Scouts of America have reached an $850 million agreement with attorneys representing some 60,000 victims of child sex abuse in what could prove to be a pivotal moment in the organizationâs bankruptcy case.

The filing, known as a restructuring support agreement, includes the BSA, abuse victims, local Boy Scouts councils and lawyers appointed to represent victims who might file future claims.

Close to 90,000 sex-abuse claims have been filed against the Boy Scouts of America as the deadline arrived Monday, Nov. 16 for filing claims in the BSA’s bankruptcy case. The number far exceeded initial projections of lawyers across the United States who have been signing up clients in the case since the Boy Scouts filed for bankruptcy protection in February in the face of hundreds of lawsuits.
