Three community groups have planned to give back to Virginia’s House during this holiday season. The groups which contributed in different ways were the students of Woodland Elementary School who partnered with Elmcroft Senior Living center, Young County Toys for Tots and Order of the Eastern Star #668.
Virginia’s House is a child advocacy center which seeks to meet the needs of abused, neglected and traumatized children through prevention, advocacy and support programs. The center is an umbrella organization which encompasses the Court Appointed Special Advocate program locally, area school mentor programs and other services through both their Graham office and in Breckenridge through Dr. Goodall’s House.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â During a time when it can seem hard to find the good, one Kansas City man is choosing to be the change and help kids in the system.
Shamarr Fonville began volunteering with Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) services about six months ago.
BRADLEY â A new program will work to distribute clothes, supplies and personal items to foster children in Kankakee County.
The initiative, Caring for Kids, was launched this month by Child Network, a longtime local non-profit that works with abused children. Child Network already interviews children in abuse cases and provides volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates to advocate for children in Kankakee County courts.
The new program, Child Network Executive Director Kristin Jackson says, âperfectly alignsâ with the mission of the agency.
âThese are exactly the type of children we serve,â she said.
The idea behind the program comes from SueAnn OâConnor, who served on the board of Child Network for a decade and has also served as the board president.

More than 600 gifts were donated to Santa Barbara County families and foster youth in need thanks to the organization CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Its annual Christmas Wishes drive saw record breaking donations including $6,565 in cash and gift card donations. We have been overwhelmed with the community s response to this year s event, Executive Director Kim Colby Davis said. When we started this years ago, we collected close to 100 gifts. Today, we are happy to announce that more than 600 gifts have been safely collected and donated to children in need this holiday season.
