No funding for Fountain Lake Restoration Project April 14, 2021, by Eldin Ganic
The Minnesota House of Representatives Capital Investment Committee released their 2021 bonding bill earlier this week. Funding for the Phase III of the Shell Rock River Watershed District’s Fountain Lake Restoration Project was not included.
Earlier in the session, Rep. Peggy Bennett presented HF 384, a $7.5 million request for the project, to the Capital Investment Committee.
Andy Henschel, the Shell Rock River Watershed District Administrator, testified and presented details about the project, the funding, the phases completed to-date and why it was important to secure funding for the project this year.

Shell Rock River Watershed District (SRRWD) made the announcement last week that the Fountain Lake Restoration Project legislation has been introduced in the House and Senate for $7.5 million.
“We are very pleased the bill HF 384 / SF 447 have been introduced in the House and Senate for $7.5 million for the Fountain Lake Restoration Project,” said
Andy Henschel, Administrator for the Shell Rock River Watershed District. “The project is the result of decades of community work to restore and enhance water quality in Fountain Lake, and we appreciate the support of community leaders.”
