Fountain Hills Unified School District announced this week that it has partnered with Embry Womenâs Health to provide free COVID-19 testing for the community. Testing is available for FHUSD staff and students, as well as members of the public.
This drive-through testing site is located in the Fountain Hills High School parking lot and is already open. The high school is located at 16100 E. Palisades Blvd. The site will be open Monday through Friday, 3 to 8 p.m., and throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.
Those interested in having a free test will need to make an appointment beforehand and can do so by visiting embrywomenshealth.com/testing-blitz. The Fountain Hills site is one of 40 currently running in the state and all testing is free, regardless of insurance. The current test turnaround time is listed at three to five days.
Christmas Day is Friday, Dec. 25, and that means many businesses and other services in Fountain Hills will be closed for the holiday.
The Town of Fountain Hills will be closed for the holiday from about 12 noon on Thursday, Dec. 24, through Sunday, Dec. 27.
The Community Center will also close at about noon Thursday, Dec. 24, and on Friday, Dec. 25.
The Fountain Hills Library branch remains closed due to coronavirus.
The Fountain Hills Sanitary District office is closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, as well as Friday, Dec. 25.
The Fountain Hills Unified School District and Fountain Hills Charter School will be on winter break and offices will be closed throughout the holidays.
A Fountain Hills Middle School teacher has filed an open meeting law complaint with the Attorney Generalâs Office against Fountain Hills Unified School District.
Erin Willis alleges that FHUSD made a Nov. 25 hearing â where she was appealing her termination â closed to the public because they would not allow viewers to join the meeting virtually via Zoom.
FHUSD Superintendent Kelly Glass said that the hearing was open for the public to attend in person, but not virtually.
The FHUSD Governing Board terminated Willisâ position at the Oct. 21 School Board meeting, alleging that Willis had violated district policy by making false statements.
